PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Personal Notes: We have four grown and married children and nine grandchildren. My husband is retired from the US Army, and we live near Charleston, South Carolina. Our current "four-legged herd" includes two very spoiled dogs and one "in-charge" feline, named Boss.
I believe that as a teacher in a culturally diverse society, it is my responsibility to:
PHILOSOPHY I believe that a person’s life should be focused on that which is morally and ethically correct; that we as individuals should work toward the common good through increased communication between and among all members of our diverse community of humankind; that the process of change is inevitable and to the extent that we learn to manage and grow with change, we will become better teachers, learners, and members of our global community; that by seeking first to understand, we will be understood; and finally that in working together for the betterment of all children, we will open the doors of opportunity for generations to come.
It is my vision that learning should be a life-long activity and that if we continue to learn, change is the concomitant result. Participation in the any learning experience will result, I hope, in my being of greater service to my family, my school, and my community. If I am to meet the challenges I see in the future, then I must seek to develop leadership skills, broaden my knowledge base, and grow personally and professionally in such a way so as not to disappoint myself or others, especially those who need us the most–our students. To be technologically well versed, to be educationally sound, to be sensitive and caring in all areas of my life, personally and professionally, that is my VISION for the future. ©Anne J.
